Hi we got our first caravan and after a weekend locally we ventured further last week. The Old Oaks Glastonbury was our choice, about 2hr from Bournemouth where we live. The site was perfect, spacious and the facility's far better then anything we expected on a touring park. Well the weather we so changeable, rain, snow sunshine and ice, but it still did not put us off, if we can caravan in these condition we can go anywhere. Even when the pipes and water froze we just smiled took a bottle to facilities and got on with it, the dogs took too it so well too, as the site had everything for them too, their own shower, off lead safe run and plenty of bins around. Can't wait for our next trip :)

Hi David,

Welcome to the forum. As Billy Connolly says there's no such thing as bad weather, just inappropriate clothing! I guess the same goes for caravans. If you can stay warm and dry you can have a good time just about anywhere.

Best wishes

Phil
PS Managed to quote Billy Connolly without swearing, must be a first!

Hi David
A good tip for winter caravanning. Always fill the kettle last thing at night, then if the pipes / aquarole are frozen and no water, you can still make that early morning brew.:)

As long as your gas cylinders haven't got too cold. ;)

Consider propane for winter use as it gasses off at a lower temperature.
